Meet Angela Human
Author of Furry Mortals: The Oliver Project
I know the deafening silence of a house that used to be full of paw-clicks.
I’ve paced the floors at midnight, watching the rise and fall of a tired chest, wondering if "now" was the moment. Like you, I’ve felt the suffocating weight of the "medicalized fog"—that place where veterinarians talk about labs and numbers, but all you can see is the fading light in your best friend’s eyes.
I wrote "Furry Mortals" because I realized that while we have endless guides on how to raise a puppy, we are terribly unprepared for the most sacred duty we will ever hold: walking our companions home.
I am a fellow traveler on this path, dedicated to helping pet parents transform from overwhelmed owners into fierce advocates. My work focuses on the intersection of clinical reality and spiritual dignity. I believe that our pets give us years of unconditional joy, and in return, we owe them a debt of persistent prace.
For years, I found myself navigating the "in-between"—that sacred, agonizing threshold where our pets start to drift toward a different horizon. We are taught to fight for life at all costs, but we aren't taught how to protect a soul’s dignity when the fighting is over.
My mission is to transform pet owners into fierce advocates. I believe that our companions give us years of unconditional joy, and in return, we owe them a debt of persistent grace. I created the concepts in this book—like the rule of three and the mortgage of the heart—to give you the clarity I wish I had during my own moments of decision-making.
Through these concepts I provide a practical roadmap for the "Hardest Walk." My goal is to ensure that your pet’s final chapter is written with the same tenderness as their first, helping you find clarity, peace, and a path through the grief.
When I’m not writing or advocating for the dignity of senior animals, you can find me with my furry mortals on the beach or hiking, tending to my garden (which has Zack's wildflower garden), giving tours at a local oyster farm or with friends and family at our favorite coffee shops.
I invite you to step into your role as a fierce advocate. Let’s walk this path together.

"Being a fierce advocate means having the courage to witness their decline without looking away, and the strength to carry their peace as your own grief."
